Social media science outreach

I’ve started writing posts for TheSTEMTimes, a group of enthusiastic scientists communicating complex science to the public in the form of Instagram posts. I’m going to be focusing mainly on plants, because #plantblindness is a real thing, even in the world of science communication. I contributed two guest posts, one about how sunflowers track the sun, and another about how plants manage to access oxygen when submerged in water. I’ll be posting links to each of my microposts here on this blog.

Here’s the first post after I joined TheSTEMTimes as a contributor. It’s about Brassicas and how the different varieties that we love to eat are actually one species, and how they were all bred from a wild ancestor many centuries ago.
